Like several other ski areas in Colorado, Steamboat is turning forty this upcoming ski season, so come enjoy the year-long celebration, highlighted by the big Anniversary in January 2003. Steamboat does everything big; skiing and snowboarding on six peaks, with 25 lifts(4 high speed quads and the gondola) and nearly 3,000 skiable acres centered around Mt. Werner. Some come enjoy Steamboat’s world famous “Champagne Powder” snow that everyone raves about; snowboarders can try the half-pipe at Dude Ranch or Maverick’s Park; or if you are just learning try a ski school program like the Kid’s Adventure Center, Roughrider’s or a “Desperado” ski week at the resort’s world class ski school, much of it established by former Olympian Billy Kidd.

Try a backcountry powder cat ski trip, a guided snowshoe hike, test the “Champagne Powder” tubing with your kids or just relaxing in a horse drawn sleigh ride.
